A cross sectional study on menstrual hygiene and associated factors among high school girls in rural Mysuru

Background: Menstruation marks the start of a girl's reproductive life and is significant process in her life. Women’s menstrual cycle directly or indirectly impacted by diet physical activity. Menstruating women's health social lives are negatively lack understanding physiology, an unscientific attitude, myths, misconceptions. Despite array initiatives put up so far, myriad challenges remains to be addressed. The study aims estimate hygiene practices, associated factors among rural high school girls mysuru.Methods: A cross sectional was conducted 200 from January March 2022 Mysuru. pretested semi structured questionnaire used for collecting data analysed using SPSS software version 25.Results: mean age participants 13.8±0.9 years. Out adolescent girls, 107 (59.4%) had attained menarche at 10-12 years age. 61.7% them reported having abdominal pain during menstruation. 71.1% that their altered Only 37.5% do regular exercise.Conclusions: present showed majority girls’ activity after focused intervention like behavioural change communication involving importance consumption fruits vegetables, iron calcium rich foods, avoidance skipping meals, taking healthy foods should encouraged.
